Stability

Stability is a vital factor in preventing vehicle rollovers. A rollover is an accident in which a car or truck tips and falls to the side or flips upside down. Such accidents can be devastating and cause potentially fatal injuries. Lightweight trucks are the most likely vehicles to roll because they have high centers of gravity. This lowers their stability rating and causes loss of control when hitting a large bump or a slippery surface on the road.

Most rollovers involve a single vehicle. In many cases, the crash might have been avoided if the car had a better stability rating. The National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has recently implemented a New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). NCAP uses a five-star rating system based on a series of dynamic track and static tests. When purchasing a new car, it is important to request an NCAP stability rating. In many cases, a used or new car may fall below acceptable NCAP ratings, making any resulting rollover accident a legal issue. If you suspect that your car rollover was due to a substandard stability rating, contact our office today.
